$200 to $10K Bankroll Challenge
I’m starting a bankroll challenge with $200. The goal is to build it to $10,000 and work toward becoming a consistent 200NL player.
I’ve played poker for years, but the main issue has been bankroll management. I’ve consistently played above my roll and didn’t move down when shots failed. That’s what this challenge is meant to fix.
I also genuinely enjoy poker. It’s something I’ve always had a passion for, and I want to approach it the right way and see how far I can take it. This challenge also gives me a clear structure and added motivation.
Goals
-Build $200 → $10,000
-Move up through stakes in a structured way
-Reach and sustain 200NL
-Fix bankroll discipline and decision-making
Short term, the focus is getting established at 10NL and moving up from there while sticking to the system. Moving up too fast has been a problem before, so this time I’m prioritizing structure.
Bankroll Approach
When I have 12 buy-ins for the next stake, I take a 1 buy-in shot
If I lose that buy-in, I move straight back down
Starting plan (10NL / 20NL):
Main volume at 10NL
Mix in 20NL when games are running
If I take losses at 20NL and my bankroll drops too far, I will immediately stop playing 20NL and move back to 10NL only
At higher stakes, I may increase this to around 15–20 buy-ins before shot-taking, but this is the system I’ll follow early on.
I’ll be playing on BetRivers.
I’ll be mixing 10NL and 20NL, mainly because volume can be inconsistent at each stake. The player pool is also softer compared to other sites, so I’m comfortable taking that approach.
The Process
Each day will include:
-Focused sessions
-Reviewing hands
-Studying (videos or reading)
-Tracking mistakes and decision quality
-Updates
I’ll post:
-Daily bankroll updates
-Hand analysis
-Mistakes and adjustments
-Progress through stakes
