20-25-30 for nl100/200/500 and then it would be 40 and 70 if possible

April 1, 2026 | 4:35 a.m.

I made a rule that once I hit a 30-buy-in bankroll for NL500, I would take a shot at NL1k. Factoring in all my rakeback, I believe I've already reached that goal

Month going well, ironic thing is that i am at the lowest of my life, while Poker actually goes the best among the last 100k hands, life is so complicated :(

End of Month Update (2026/02/01-2026/03/01):

Volume: 17165
Result: 3346.14$ + 400$ rb (mixed both nl500 and nl200 nl100)
Notice:

Study: Split 40 hours between BvB SRP/coaching videos and hand reviews. Spent the remaining time exploring AI for poker development.

Play: Solid month at 500NL. Despite a mid-month redline dip, I stayed mentally composed by focusing on strategy execution over short-term results.

Plan: Expand to new platforms. Looking at WSOP or a return to PP after technical issues with Borgata.

Hi Zoty79 , thanks for the comment

  1. for the mental weakness, i guess everyone will have it and will alway have it, no one is really 100% rational, probably just try to improve it along the way. The way I see it is to use the data (for example, MDA or certain line) to confirm whether it is overbluffed or underbluffed and then nodelock solver to see the adjustment. Then you could use the result as a new baseline to adjust your play, your view as well as your mental for the situation. I am not saying this is 100% gonna work, but it helped me in my node. I also struggled a lot in 2025 for mental improvement, but I do feel getting better and better

  2. Yeah, villain is a recreational and I was trying to funnel him into this line for exploits. So i didn't even hesitate to call the river in a second

January Update: Family, Reset, and Fixing the "River Gap"

The Monthly Reset January was a "zero volume" month for me. I’ve been back in my hometown catching up with family. It’s been a great break, but I haven't been totally idle—I've spent my downtime reviewing old coaching notes and auditing my process before I head back to the tables in a week or two(hopefully).

The findings: We Aren't Betting Thin Enough. I just had my first coaching session of 2026, and it was an eye-opener. The takeaway? My River value betting is not thin enough as I thought. Whether I’m IP or OOP, I realized my sizing often doesn't actually reflect the equity of my hand. I’m missing out on those "thin" spots where I just keep underestimating the equity of some value combos. The plan is to: drill a lot in srp node in B-B-B OOP, B-X-B IP, XC-X-B OOP/IP to improve my understanding of these value hands equity.

My next goal is to improve my B v B play (both SRP and 3BP). After that, I’m diving into 4-bet pots to build a more robust game plan.

I'll post a more concrete schedule once I’m back at my setup. Can't wait to kick off the grinding again after seeing so many people doing great in Jan

Put my 2025 year end review here:

Year-End Review: A Messy Year, But Still Moving Forward*
The Numbers (Keeping It Simple

Result: $19,603.79 (no rake back)
Rakeback: ~$6,000
Net Win Rate: ~10 bb/100
Hours Played: 738
Hours Studied: ~300

Reflection

At the very beginning of this year, my baby daughter entered the world. I knew life would get busier—but I seriously underestimated just how messy and unpredictable it would become.

Compared to 2023 and 2024, I completely lost my consistent poker routine. Most of the year felt like this: play poker randomly when time allowed, squeeze in some quick 10bb+ reviews whenever I could, then rush back to real life. I wasn’t following a structured study plan, wasn’t working through courses systematically, and definitely wasn’t doing regular, disciplined pool or opponent analysis.

In hindsight, the biggest issue wasn’t volume or effort—it was the lack of a clear plan. The entire year felt rushed, reactive, and unfocused.

From a results perspective, the story was mixed:

NL100 ran extremely well overall, until the final ~8k hands where I dropped 30 buy-ins.

NL200 was a grind, but I gradually turned things around, even though I’m still sitting on roughly a 26 buy-in EV gap.

NL500 actually went very well, which was probably the most encouraging part of the year. I also have one 10bi downswing, but i think I handled it well

I tried a bit at NL1k, but it became clear that, mentally, I’m not quite ready to live there yet.

Looking Forward

2025 was about survival and adjustment. 2026 will be about structure and intention.

I plan to fully rebuild my routine: setting a clear monthly schedule, breaking it down into weekly plans, and quantifying both study goals and playing volume. No more “probably I’m doing fine” thinking—everything needs to be measurable and deliberate.

The goal is simple but demanding: keep improving systematically, move up to NL1k, and become a truly established player at that stake.

My name is Pan. Currently, I am playing 6-max NL500 in a fenced pool. My trajectory changed forever in March 2023 when I joined a CFP—the single best decision of my poke life. I started with my very first online hand at NL25; today, I am establishing my footprint at NL500.

My sights are now set on a singular, definitive milestone: Consistently beating NL1k and NL2k, reg-battling included. I am not looking for the easy path; I am looking for the right one.

For years, I followed the journals of MM and PG here on Run It Once. While their results are legendary, it wasn't the money that captivated me—it was their systematic approach. They demystified the "poker genius" myth. They proved that elite success isn't a byproduct of innate IQ or "talent," but rather the result of a scientific framework and relentless, deliberate practice. I am a living testament to that philosophy. I started reading their words as an outsider; today, I am an active participant in that same pursuit of mastery.

For the past two years, I have kept my journals private within my stable. Today, I am moving them into the light. I am starting this blog to:

Document the Climb: Sharing the raw data—the studies, the reviews, the results, and the inevitable struggles.
Foster Growth: Inviting feedback from this community to sharpen my edges as I transition to 2kNL.
Prove the Framework: I want to shout out to Matt and the RIO community that: everything Matt shared for poker actually works. I want to be the evidence that any dedicated reg can follow this path to the top.

Quote Matt's words:

"Ultimately, if some 50nl reg with a dream reads this blog and decides
to adopt this mindset, taking my approach as a source of inspiration,
then sharing these things will be worthwhile to me."
