Enjoyed this!

Watching a video of such vigorous studying of hands is inspiring stuff.

Your comments on the AT hand about playing minclick raise only on the turn have been eye opening for me. It's not something I would've done in that spot but now that I think about it, I can see some benefits.

I would've said the big downside to that turn strategy is that if you minraise and he calls, on board pairing rivers it would feel uncomfortable to a face a jam most of your turn value. But that won't happen very often and it's also such a complex and understudied spot that your opponent is going to play so differently from the theory baseline that you can exploit one way or the other.

To profit pre rakeback while playing 100k hands in a week at 500nl+ is an absolutely incredible achievement in today's games. The volume itself is something I haven't seen since the pre-solver era when regs were grinding hard at the end of year to make SNE, and those guys back then were only mass grinding 100nl and 200nl. The solvers have made the regs a lot better in recent years which makes this so impressive.

Really like the QQ hand and the comments on the river decision. Enjoy your live plays but wouldn't mind seeing more hh review videos that are themed more on in game thought processes and not just 45 minutes of GTOwizard sims

@ 07:00 You said that with your 2.25x open you range bet 9K6 two tone, but you also said that you think if you open bigger (I assume you're talking to those who use the standard 3x open) you can't range bet. Is this just because the bb's range will be tighter vs 3x and will have less folds on K96?

Dec. 30, 2025 | 2:36 p.m.

I liked that you used the poker equilab matrix to narrow villains range down. I'm definitely going to try that during my own session reviews.

I think the KQo defend vs flop raise on A77r is very questionable honestly. KQs with the bdfd I wouldn't mind.

Is most of your volume in 2025 at 200nl rush and cash on GG? I saw a YT video of a guy who made roughly 100k in rb this year playing it (though he did not win pre rakeback)

Dec. 29, 2025 | 5:16 p.m.

@17:30 KJo with 18bbs you 3bet small vs co open. In this spot would you only play small 3bet or would you split into small 3bet and jam? What would be the bottom of your 3bet/call off range here?

Dec. 27, 2025 | 2:07 p.m.

Hi Chaps, nice to hear that you won another BBJ. I remember watching a run it once video where you won a bbj at the start of the recording. Really shocked but also impressed that you've played 2 million hands of r&c between then and now wp.

Good insight on the 22 hand at 11:00. On that Badugi board vs turn overbet I think a lot of players will only continue two pair+ and so I also shoving brick rivers is not going to work out too well.

Dec. 22, 2025 | 7:06 p.m.

Appreciate the look into a spot that's very understudied by many players. Easy to understand why you overbet with a polarized range on disconnected boards with high cards and merged and smaller on connected low boards.

Dec. 19, 2025 | 5:59 p.m.

Really great insight about the KQcc hand from Linus. All very solid points in your explanation for why you don't approve of the overbet size on the flop with that exact hand. It's also a nice little reminder that even the highstakes endbosses are humans that make mistakes too.

Dec. 17, 2025 | 5:41 p.m.

That AKo cbet on 988 is a blunder I think a semi-serious 2/5 player would seldom make, let alone a guy at a 25/50 table.

I enjoyed the Mississippi straddle hand review. I don't play in games where it's allowed so I was seeing a sim of a button straddle defending range in this video for the very first time.

Good little nugget of insight in the KK hand about wanting the Kc to unblock all the KQs hands with bdfd. I never would've thought about that when considering bet or check if say the 2c came on the turn.

Thanks for the video!

My intuition before seeing the sim was that 44 would only bluff with the perfect suits, felt good to get that one right :P. I appreciated the deeper dive into the A8 river bluff. The merge bluff hands are not something I look for or find easily when I'm using a solver to review hands so it's nice to be reminded that they're there.

The KQ hand you were thrown off by the slightly bigger size and also said you believe with high confidence that this a range bet, did you consider at all that this slightly bigger size is custom to target the weaker continues in your range given that TT can only bet one street unimproved? I was surprised to see such a high x/jam freq on the flop, definitely makes this a spot most regs at small and midstakes play much more passively than the solver.

K6 hand I do agree that on the turn most oop players bet more frequently than that sim suggests, but I would've appreciated to hear a bit about which which hand classes bet out too much in this spot and which bet less. On the river I liked your insight about blocking/unblocking the reopening range dictates which full houses should bet and which should trap in oop's shoes. It's a point I'm going to try and keep in mind for future spots like this that come up for me.

KJ hand the river merge jam with QJ was v interesting. Don't think I've ever seen it pulled off in the games I play but I can understand why vs jam J9s may be a better call than KJ

QJo hand you didn't mention this but I felt validated once again to see my assumption that oop should be pure checking KK and TT on the turn was right. I believe a lot of regular players still miss these traps and pure overbet on a dynamic turn like the Ts. I agreed with your thoughts on river play. I would've believed QJ would be the best bluff candidate and think a lot of players would always call KT and fold AK/K8/K3

This is the first video of yours I have watched, and I think I'll probably be a regular watcher from now on. Good explanations and delves into blocker effects throughout and I enjoy this format. I found it much easier to hold my attention onto this video than some of the live play style videos I've watched this week.

Another great video, Simon! It's a video I'll no doubt watch again as there's so much to try and grasp from this. The points about domination properties and range construction are explained so clearly in words and aided with the illustrations from the solver, the concepts just click in my mind unlike any other coach's content on here can do. Not only are your videos eye opening from both a theory and exploitative stand point, but I also come away with a better understanding of how to use GTOWizard effectively.

Keep up the good work. This video format is the nuts!

Oct. 16, 2025 | 7:06 p.m.

I like that your critical of GGpoker and the rake they charge. It makes me feel proud and validated to still have never made an account on there yet after all these years :P

Oct. 2, 2025 | 3:42 p.m.

Great video Patrick!

Excellent point on the AA hand about considering the bet size opponent is likely to use on the next node when choosing which draws to bet or check with on the turn.

on the JT hand, I really appreciated you pointed out in the flop defending vs cbet node which parts of the range are easy to be overfolded. Sometimes when I run stuff through GTOWizard I'm guilty of focusing too much on how my specific hand plays in the sim without looking for any other takeaways. And the point about how the river card interacts with villains range when considering to bet for value or check as a trap is potent.

AJ hand, thanks for highlighting how the bluffing strategy from HJ changes on a blank vs flush completing card. I'm surprised JT with a diamond gives up on a diamond river. I think that might have been the first hand I would bluff with.

A lot of great stuff to take away from this video.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy your vacation!

Oct. 1, 2025 | 4:05 p.m.

Enjoyed the video. Really great analysis on the A3dd hand especially.

I do however disagree with one of your points on the TT hand. I believe vs turn block bet from sb the bb will actually over raise for thin value rather than under raise as you suggested.

Sept. 30, 2025 | 5:25 p.m.

In the 87dd hand, I'm surprised you didn't mention all the other players could have 9Tdd, J9dd, Q9dd and A9dd and some might even have 96dd, which 87dd is almost dead against. If it was Kd9d4c I can get behind the open jam more.

Sept. 29, 2025 | 1 p.m.

Hey Clanty, I would say I'm honestly not a fan of this video format. It could just be me, but I found 5 tables with 2 of them being HU difficult to follow along with your explanation.

I do appreciate your approach to the game and hope to see similar types of videos with fewer tables in future

Sept. 28, 2025 | 1:46 p.m.

I really enjoyed this video and feel like I've got some takeaways from it, even though I don't use a flop overbet strategy myself. At small stakes on PokerStars, I do see players using it on AKo/Aqo boards, because its "the optimal" size in solver land, but I'm quite confident that even though some do an okay job of copying the flop strategy with this sizing scheme, many of them have not dug any further down the tree than that, and have no clue with what they should be doing from the turn if their flop bet gets called. I think this video could inspire many of those players to do some real work on this spot :P

Appreciated you showing the notes and breakdowns in writing. Really helped me grasp the rules and concepts you touched on during the play and explain on the solver. Looking forward to the K/Q/J high video

Hi Tyler, @ 01:00 could you further explain why you think checking back AQ on the turn in villains shoes loses money? on a rainbow board in particular with no Ax/Qx +flush draw combos available to extract value/get protection from checking back AQ to jam over a bet in the b/x/b line from sb looks good to me.

@29:00 You stated that you've started limping in the small blind because in the long term you're making money everytime you vpip. But the open limp in the sb strategy will make you play less hands an hour than the more common raise only strategy. Do you think the extra ev gained from the limp strategy makes up for the hands per hour lost in regards to the $/hr bottom line?

Have a great time in Eastern Europe mate. Looking forward to the trip report!

Another great post mate. I'm enjoying getting back into meditation myself. I'm doing it every morning in my darkened office while my freshly brewed coffee cools down. Routines!

May 23, 2023 | 10:49 a.m.

At 11:30 you limp/folded A8hh UTG

Are EP limps something you see a lot of midstakes regs implementing in their game? And is this something you do regularly now or was it purely an exploit given the unique table line-up?

April 15, 2023 | 3:57 p.m.

Glad to see you're back posting. I've overheard regs in the Nagaworld card room out here in Cambodia talking about you amongst themselves. Keep on doing your thing dude

Comment | hurtNCYDE commented on In Solver We Trust

17:10 - Why do you have such a tiny amount of JTs in your sb range on the pio sim? JTs not pure 3bet/call 4bet in sb vs bu?

Jan. 5, 2023 | 4:26 p.m.

16:50 - Great point with KJo. upon first glance, with two recs behind it would've seemed a line up where you should be widening your opening range, but I like your reasoning for folding. In that particular spot, would you be opening low pocket pairs at a much higher frequency given that they play much better in squeezed pots with recs?

Jan. 4, 2023 | 11:22 a.m.

3:40 Are you sure Q9s is a defend vs a 4bet bu vs sb? Most of the charts I've seen have J9 and Q9 folding and K9/A9 mixing call and fold

6:20 you squeezed 98s despite a roll of 37? Surely it's only a low frequency play especially because when you're deeper these hands go down in value?

47:00 with A9o when he calls turn is your plan to give up on non diamond rivers?

49:30 Are you always defending 77 co vs sb 3bet?

I live in Glasgow as well (although I am going away in early December for a while)

Here's my advice for moving here:

  1. Live near the tube. I live in the east end where there's no tube. Buses are not reliable and you'll end up paying for so many Ubers into town or the west end. Cessnock and Ibrox are pretty decent areas for cafes and restaurants and obviously convenient if you're a Rangers fan.

  2. Splash out on a nice place to live. Rent for higher end accommodation is cheaper here than in most other western countries biggest city. As much as I appreciate the working class vibes of the city, I regret not moving into a place more insulated from shoddy neighbors. If you can rent in a complex that has a communal gym then that's a huge bonus, because I've found the Glasgow weather can sometimes be a deterrent to head out to the gym.

  3. DO NOT go play in these Glasgow live games. They are reg fested and rake is so high. No money to be made there. Stick to playing online only.

Do you listen to music while grinding poker? I always found I play way less focused and make more sloppy errors whenever I have music playing.

Such sick commentary at 26:00 haha!

@24:00 Are you sure it's not best to overcall the minraise with QJo in the SB, especially when there is another weaker player in the BB?
